As with the
second book, this one too was preceded by workshop
experience. The Karma and Sexuality workshop modules and
the Couple´s Intensive (called “The Other´s Mirror” I
and II) inspired the writing of this book, the third in
the Inner Alchemy series. Here we find an amplification
of the original ideas presented in the first book, now
applied to the vast arena of relationships. It is the
most complete exposition of Inner Alchemy dynamics relating
us to our tangible world, starting with a careful
exploration of the human mechanism — as the physiognomy
of body, mind and emotions — passing through the
dynamics which germinate intrigues and complexities in
relationships of all sorts, and ending with four
chapters of practices on mastering the basic energy of
the self and attaining transcendence.
The structural foundations of the mind and the physical
organism, as well as higher mind or consciousness, are
analysed in the light of modern physics and the newer
psychological trends. Sexuality, both as psychological
impulse and as raw substance (drive) which will be
refined into enlightened, flexible substance to serve
consciousness, is seen as the primary ingredient for
evolution and true spirituality. This spirituality is
predicated upon a solid and yet malleable physical
foundation. In this sense the best of Freud is wedded to
the best of Jung and modern mysticism. The overtones of
the book are tantric, while its spirit is profoundly
humanitarian, if not ecological, advocating the need for
unity and transcendence of difference.
In the mainline of this book, the manipulative and
illusory, if not escapist and basically violent dynamics
which veil true relating and growth are exposed, laying
bare the egocentric, selfish interest of a human
machinery which is, through an almost wilful
unconsciousness dooming itself into extinction. In this
vein the book demystifies prevailing popular
interpretations of reincarnation, the soul, “true” love,
twin souls, and fate, among others, offering a sober
platform for a realistic meeting of minds among seekers
on all paths. The book humorously suggests the need for
some kind of “ego” while at the same time calling for a
“flexible and conscious” ego structure. Without this
flexibility, it maintains, there can be no truly humane
relating.
The reader is cautioned against misuse of sexual force
and its consequences, with a basic appeal to a more
loving consciousness whereby the truly earthy is indeed
divine, and to a sense of brotherhood and unity which
can naturally only begin with a realistic appraisal of
the basic sexual impulse and the individual body of
awareness.
The end chapter deals with group relationships and the
dynamics within cultural patterns, evoking a spirit of
fraternity and cooperation. In the appendix we find a
section which contrasts the Arcane School system with
the Inner Alchemy system, and while explaining
divergences, there is also a call for unified
visionariness.
The workshops of Karma and Sexuality continue to be a
popular choice around the world. Some of the
practices used in these workshops are included in the
end sections, inspiring the reader to go beyond “karma”,
crystallized unconscious fixations and instinctual
sexuality, into love, brotherhood and ultimately... God.
The training based on this book is offered over two
years through intensives held in Barcelona and in Palma
de Mallorca in alternate years.
